Within the framework of the project “Promoting gender equality through improving economic efficiency of agricultural production and tourism development” funded by the Australian Government through the GREAT Program in Van Ho district, Son La province, ethnic minority women in Van Ho district had the opportunity to actively participate in activities of capacity building and household economic development.
Before participating in the project and working with Agritage Vietnam, ethnic minority women in Van Ho district were still quite shy in community activities such as participating in meetings, groups and networking. In the village community, there are still many prejudices against women such as women who do not do well in the economy, women mainly do housework and take care of children, men have to do big work… Since participating in project activities, Van Ho women have gradually changed, they are more active and confident, actively participating in community activities and developing household economy. In the family, men also change gender perceptions, increase the sharing of responsibilities towards women. Each individual changes, the journey of change will be continuous and sustainable….
